Lot of discussion in my meeting today
@NHS_ELFT
about getting ready for a mental health surge as we reduce lockdown. Mental health in our service users as we get more direct contact but also in our populations that we serve. Cannot forget our staff in this too.

Think we need to be mindful of what type of 'surge' this likely to be & who best placed to provide support. There's often been people turned away from MH services because don't meet criteria & seen as anxiety, social crisis, etc. Crucial there's a planned multi-agency approach.

I think we are already seeing the beginnings of this. New onset of illness secondary to numerous COVID side effects (notably socioeconomic) as well as relapses of existing illness. People are suffering from reduced contact in the community. I am seeing significant acuity.

One of several scenarios that we need to actively plan for... As well as the effects of interrupting chronic disease management, the increased demand generally as restrictions ease, and further waves of cv-19
