What works for blockchain doesn't always world for the real world. "Blue Chip" style PFPs (human based / DeGods style) don't translate well for longterm IP development. Character based PFPs like Pudgy Pengs are easier to build a brand around (also why Azuki launched Beanz).

Dokkaebi taps into a rich history of cultural lore, playfulness and morality. Because of this, the symbol of a Dokkaebi is as innate to Korean identity as the language they speak. That kind of nostalgia packed into a character is recipe for something massive.

In the case of Dokkaebi, we don't have to build that emotional symbolism or cultural relevance. Dokkaebi have been around for a 1000+ years in Korea and are seen as divine spirits of chaos, but also enforcers of moral order.

The caveat is completely community run projects. Team renounces ownership to a DAO similar to how memecoin founders renounce contract. I would like to see more of this as projects mature.

But it is a big focus area for us to onboard more Koreans. They aren't really on CT and tend to hang out more on Telegram.

TBH Dokkaebi is so focused on IRL biz streams, royalties aren't a big factor. Still think it's an issue worth raising

@jwong___ Exactly. My concern with animals though is that they are too oversaturated. Luca was the first to execute it perfectly w/ Penguins, but imo later stage NFT projects need to focus on a customer segment to win. We chose a nation / culture.

Longterm we'll hopefully monetize: 1) IP through toys and merchandise. This requires building a mass consumer brand beyond web3 users. 2) web3 dApps that generate income.

@DominicCarb Projects should be able to set their own royalties. The market will decide if they are too high or not. At the same time, teams that want to scale will have to develop lines of business beyond secondary markets. Royalties should flow back to the community in someway.
