UPDATE: By the end of this year, 70% of the expected demand for PPE will be met by British manufacturers, reducing the reliance on overseas suppliers. Prior to the pandemic, just 1% of PPE was produced in the UK #UKmfg 🇬🇧

@2damnation Reshoring was happening anyway. Covid19 (and the cold war with China) has simply sped up the process.

@danieljohnsalt Yes indeed. Partly geopolitical (China cold war) but also economic. AI & robotics fundamentally alters the economics of reshoring

@DerrickBerthel1 So important as well. We didn't produce enough of much of anything for ourselves nor train enough Brits across many industries/services. Brexit was always going to mean short term difficulties & costs but long term, it was a kick up the arse to get the country moving again.
