Pink was recognised in Homer's Odyssey in 800 BC. The word was coined in the 14th c for the ruffled edges of carnations and the naming of the colour derives from this. The zenith of the colour pink was the 18th c when it became fashionable, championed by Madame de Pompadour.

This tulipiere in the authentic delft style was created by Simon Pettet who lived with Dennis Severs in the 1980s. Between 4th May to 4th June, Simon’s works will be displayed throughout our unique historic interiors to enhance the magical atmosphere of 18 Folgate Street.
