Finally I just want to quantify the extra cost here. Pre-Brexit paperwork was FREE and really simple. Post Brexit 6 new paperwork requirements 1 old. Logistics from £165 per pallet to £405. New full time staff member to deal with this circus. Result big inflation on wine! #Brexit

So our cost have increased with zero benefits to anyone by 58p a bottle. Once margins are are applied at the usual wholesaler and retailer percentages this 58p becomes over £1.50 a bottle FOR NO BENEFITS TO ANYONE, and it’s you the consumer that’s paying this.

We do our documents in advance to avoid border issues. On checking all our documents had been created correctly. However HMRC changed the rules again & now you need code RRS01 in box 44. Zero notification from HMRC! We just avoided a £600 fine for delaying the lorry. 🤬 #Brexit

Apparently the queues in Dover and Calais for lorries are not Brexit related according to the U.K. government. With the average wait of 11 hours it’s due to 3 ships that are being refitted. Hmm funny how most of these lorries always use the channel tunnel. Gaslighting government.

Today one of my key logistics suppliers advised me that the are ceasing the EU-U.K. and U.K.-EU service. The Director of this large company was actually sadden that they were unable to continue due to paperwork killing demand. So #brexit has literally killed another supply chain.

My wife was chatting to a British business owner here in France yesterday. They run English courses for teenagers. Part of the course was to spend two weeks in the UK to speak English. Due to Brexit they now go to Ireland as it’s too difficult to get UK permits. #BrexitReality

Pre-Brexit, shipping goods was relatively straightforward from the EU. Order, collection and delivery within 7-10 days was the norm from every part of the EU, which accounts for 66.6% of all wine consumed in the U.K.

Despite the bleak situation I would like to finish on a positive. Even with all the barriers to trade this week 4 pallets from Spain did turn around from collection to delivery in just 7 days. This is the only delivery in 2021 to achieve this. #Brexit 19/19.

Costs too have changed dramatically. The fixed logistics charge of £180 is a distant memory! The single pallet rate from France is now £280, for Spain it’s £270, Germany £310, Austria £340, & Italy it’s £340. I should add these are the best rate single pallet rates we have found.

The average cost was £170-£190 per single pallet for the logistics and this pallet could be mixed with multiple suppliers (not anymore) including EU movement documents. These were the only costs. So in other words easy and cheap to trade.
