Play by Play guy for the Blue Jays and Canada Basketball on Sportsnet and NCAA Hoops on ESPN. Husband, and Dad to 4 wonderful boys and 1 chocolate lab.
My Dad, Arnie, passed away yesterday. He was the world's best Dad and grandfather right to the last day. It's hard to describe how much he loved his kids and grandkids. And no one loved the Blue Jays more. Dad, thank you for everything you gave to all of us. We love you so much.
Hey everyone..I get asked nightly during
#bluejays
games for an update on Buck, so here's the latest. He and Arlene are thrilled to report he finished treatment yesterday! 💪 It all went as well as it possibly could and they are heading home now to begin rehab and recovery (1/2)
I would love to see MLB create an award for the pitcher who throws the most innings each season. I bet you the recipients would be honored to win an award named for Roy Halladay.
Please keep Buck in your prayers. He'll be taking a leave after today. He's as tough as they come, and we can't wait to have him back with us as soon as possible.
So hey
#nextlevel
fans, for those who don’t know,
@sportsnet
can continue doing our normal
#bluejays
shows thru the playoffs. So allow me to introduce your playoff broadcast crew. See ya Tuesday!!!
My annual thanks to the
#NextLevel
fans all across🇨🇦, the best fans in baseball. It is such an honour to be part of our group at Sportsnet that takes so much pride in bringing you the games. Off to ESPNRadio for the playoffs, but you are in great hands with Buck, Tabby and Hazel!
With all the tiebreaker possibilities, don't know what will be beyond today, so just wanted to say now that it is an absolute honour calling games for
#WeAreBlueJays
and the best fans in baseball. This year has been a blast. Let's hope it lasts a while longer. See you at 3:00 ET
Morning,
#bluejays
fans. Buck asked me to pass along this message on his behalf, since he isn't on twitter.
“I want to thank all the people that have sent best wishes to me during this journey, many former teammates many broadcast co-workers, current managers and GMs. (1/2)
Thanks everyone for all the support and messages and for being such great fans of the team. We are all so grateful to have the jobs we do and to bring you the games. Off to college hoops in a few wks, let’s hope it’s an easy winter and that we’re in Dunedin before you know it.
My 82 year old father is too nervous to watch big games, so he sits on the bed and tries to figure out how things are going based on my mother's yelling as she watches the
#raptors
game in the next room. In a related story, my Dad was also Drake's dentist back in the Aubrey days
You know what would have been nice back in 1998? Someone pulling me aside and saying “Dude, you’re losing the battle here. It’s time to shave that dome of yours”. That’s what would have been nice
#tbt
Another season of calling
#BlueJays
games has come to an end for me. Can’t tell you what a privilege it is to be able to call games for one’s hometown team. Off to MLB playoffs for
@ESPNRadio
then college hoops on
@ESPN
. Keep in touch over the winter, Canada! 🇨🇦
(2/2) Buck is very hopeful he will be able to rejoin us in the booth at some point post All-Star break, as soon as he is feeling strong enough. Great news!!!
Follow-up. I asked Santiago Espinal to take the picture of us earlier today and only realized hours later he snuck a selfie in there on me. He’s the best. 😂😂😂
When you tell the story of this team years from now to those who weren’t old enough to experience it, make sure you give Fred Van Vleet his due. Dude was nails in this series.
(2/2)
The baseball family is a close and strong family. I am confident we will come out on top! Thank you for your support, it means the world to me! Buck and Arlene Martinez”
Had a minor surgical procedure at Michael Garron hospital today here in Toronto. Just wanted to give a shout-out to all the staff there - they were all amazing, from registration to surgical team to recovery. We should never take hospital staff for granted, they are so important!
Hey
#BlueJays
fans, wanted to let you know I won’t be on the CLE series because of close contact with someone who tested positive. But assuming all goes well, I’ll be back in NY. Until then,
@benwag247
and Tabby will have the call for you on TV and radio. See you soon!
Because of Covid and our crazy travel schedules, today is the first day in almost 3 years I’ve seen one of my best friends in the world,
@BoogSciambi
. They don’t make ‘em any better. Tomorrow, we’ll be a booth apart as we call the game for
#NextLevel
and
#NextStartsHere
.
Worked with Tony for 2 years at ESPN. Every time we went into a clubhouse, the hitting coach would pull him aside and say "can you talk to a couple of my hitters?" Every time.
Number of times Pedro Martinez faced Tony Gwynn: 36
Number of times Pedro Martinez struck Tony Gwynn out: ZERO

Yes to everything Jason said and more. Kevin is terrific. Fair, measured, and as talented as they come. He said nothing wrong. The Orioles should feel lucky to have him.
Kevin Brown is one of the most talented, thoughtful, curious, positive people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, working with and calling a friend.
He’s truly one of the best play-by-play announcers in the country.
If the Orioles don’t want him, another team’ll be elated.
My daughter in law just told me she’s friends with Gordon
@Lightfoot365
’s daughter and that he’s a Jays fan and I can’t understand why she hasn’t told me this before and why hasn’t she arranged an introduction? We’re working through it. Please respect our privacy at this time.
I am overwhelmed by all the unbelievable messages I've received today re the Graney award at the CBHOF. A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. And I am honoured to be on a list with so many great people who have done so much for baseball in Canada. 🇨🇦
Just had a tour. Gang, I’m not exaggerating here - the new areas are fantastic. You younger folks are going to love the social gathering areas. And the changes in the dimensions and heights of the outfield wall make it much less cookie-cutterish. It’s good stuff.
Sometimes I get tired or grumpy or disillusioned about certain things. And sometimes my dog wears me out with her never ending energy during the day. But you can’t beat the midnight snuggle.
Thanks to everyone who got up early or stayed up late to watch these games. Such a cool event and so honoured to have been part of our coverage. Congrats to everyone at
@CanBball
. Enjoy this, folks. And Paris will be here before you know it. 🏀🇨🇦
Had a basketball game tonight so just watching the ceremony now… my deepest appreciation to everyone who reached out. I am tremendously honoured to have received this award. Thanks to everyone who gave this goofy Toronto boy a shot to call baseball games. What a ride it’s been.
There's never been anyone who could tell a story like Vin Scully. He could make anything, from a grounder to 2nd to the weather forecast, sound special. RIP to the best ever at calling a baseball game.
Finished calling a game from my home at 1030. Everyone asleep so I wandered downstairs, hungry. Too lazy to make anything so just eating hunks of bread and cheese while drinking wine. I imagine this is what the 16th century was like, except for the calling a game from home part.
Want to thank everyone who reached out today....I am humbled and hono(u)red to be nominated, and to be included on a list with so many great voices of the game.
To my
@bluejays
teammates, coaches, front office, staff, partners, and fans - THANK YOU. A very special thanks to
@jayscare
for helping me extend the reach of
#GrandKids
into Canada. I’m immensely proud of our impact and look forward to continuing those efforts. Next up,
@brewers
A- it's a bad rule. Base is in fair territory, running lane is in foul territory. Rule needs to be changed.
B - Where is Turner supposed to go? IMO, Gurriel reached into the baseline because the throw was tailing.
C - it's a bad rule.
Hey gang, helping my son move to New York tomorrow and Tuesday so enjoy the next 48 hours leading to the trade deadline and we’ll catch up again from Minnesota!!!
#NextLevel
#bluejays
Heading down to Syracuse for my son's graduation this weekend, and Tabby's son is graduating from college this weekend too, so Matt Devlin and
@SiddallJoe
got you covered this weekend from the Trop! See you Monday back at the Rogers Centre!

Friends: I thought it was important to let you know I’m being treated for chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Still, I intend to be there opening day, sitting beside
@SiddallJoe
hosting
#BlueJays
Central. Hope you’ll join us then.
To those who lost children, parents, grandparents....there are no words to express the sorrow so many of us feel for you.
To those whose loved ones are being held hostage, we pray for their safe return.
Let us hope that one day fear can be replaced by a lasting peace.
I'm going to miss sports, and baseball can't come soon enough. But all of us doing what we can to help contain this virus is much more important. And I do have these two waiting for me at home.
Game 162 possibilities...so win or lose, Jays could still go to Tampa Bay or Minnesota, depending on what Texas and Houston do today. Fun! If you like chaos, this is
