The climbing level in 2023 is obscene. Multiple riders even in a 1.1 French race can push 7 w/kg for 10-11 minutes

Analyzed Arnaud De Lie race and training power data from 2022. @Arnaud_De_Lie with fresh legs can hit more than 540 watts for 5 minutes or after at least 3000 kilojoules in a race winning sprint can produce almost 1500 watts for 10 seconds. More crazy data in the article

To win the stage Vingegaard did 6.56 ᵉW/Kg for 19:39 min. The first part of the climb was done slowly and after Vingegaard launched he did a negative split, doing around 7 w/kg. Lenny Martinez lost only 16 seconds to the Dane, which must be very encouraging for Groupama-FDJ

Sad that 🇨🇴Miguel Angel Lopez abandons Giro d'Italia. He is inconsistent, but at his peak form he would be hard to stop on Blockhaus, Santa Cristina, Monterovere and Passo Fedaia stages this Giro, and would be a threat to Carapaz. #Giro2022 #Giro
