TODAY’S THE DAY!!!!!! After 10 years of writing, and rewriting, and endless editing, Living in Cemeteries is out in the world…and I couldn’t be happier!!!
Well, this happened!!!!
My debut novel, Living in Cemeteries, is coming out from JournalStone this April...and I've been dying to spill the news!!!
Get ready to get haunted :)
I hope the whole Steinbeck werewolf novel reveal starts a trend of unearthing older authors horror forays...like Faulkner’s take on swamp thing...of Hemingway’s cannibalistic mermaid novella...or Edith Wharton’s very slow vampire socialite novel.
Contract Signed!!!!! That vague tweet from the other day was an acceptance from
@thedeadlands
for my story The Ecological Impacts of Resurrection: a Field Study!!! It should be out in early 2024!!!!!!!!
The rejections come in, the submissions go out…The rejections come in, the submissions go out…The rejections come in, the submissions go out…The rejections come in, the submissions go out…The rejections come in, the submissions go out…The rejections come in, the sub…
so...Big News!!!
I accepted a new Librarian position at Eastham Public Library!!!
I'm going to miss Sturgis a ton, but I'm very excited about this new opportunity :)
After 4 years of buying the fiction for my library, I’ve decided the most sellable title, based on trends, for a book has to be The Woman’s Daughter’s Girl. I will write this and make millions.
Just got an acceptance from a magazine I sent my first story to on my first round of submissions when I was first starting out like 8 years ago!!!!!!!!
Just a reminder: the rejections come in, the submissions go out. the rejections come in, the submissions go out. the rejections come in, the submissions go out. the rejections come in, the submissions go out. the rejections come in, the submissions go out. the rejections…
I’ve got a story coming out in
@CatapultStory
this Friday that I’ve been writing and rewriting for seven years. This is just to say believe in your weird little darlings and never stop editing…ever…edit until you die.
After 5 years of submitting, I finally landed a piece in
@Wigleaf
!!! They’ve been one of my favorite flash venues since the beginning and I can’t explain how happy this makes me :)
I wrote a story for a Conjunctions submission call 5 years ago. Today that story finally found an awesome home. I’ve been rewriting it/editing it all that time. This is just to say don’t give up on a story if you love it.
Today I finally got to hold my debut novel, Living in Cemeteries. I started writing this book 10 years ago. It is so surreal and magical and wonderful to finally get to see it in print :)
So Gabrielle and I are out in Salem today celebrating our anniversary, and we’re out walking around…and across the street I see
@paulGtremblay
waving at me!!! This was a wonderful surprise :)
For the past 10 years, no one has read my debut novel, Living in Cemeteries, besides my wife, my mom, and my agent. Blurbs are starting to come in from writers whose work I love and deeply respect and it’s so surreal and wonderful and scary…and I really hope you all like it :)
It’s my Birthday! 33! And it’s my first birthday I have a book to promote…maybe if you want to give me a present, consider pre-ordering Living in Cemeteries :) Or maybe send me your favorite Dark Fantasy/Weird Horror short story recs :)
I can’t tell you how much all the support meant to me at my Living in Cemeteries book launch party last night!!! Thanks to everyone who has been part of this in any way at all, near or far!!!
It’s so surreal to see my debut novel, Living in Cemeteries, reviewed in
@ALA_Booklist
!!! I’ve read their reviews at the
#library
for years, so it’s nuts getting to see my name in there! So glad
@RAforAll
enjoyed the read!!!
Did you know my debut novel, Living in Cemeteries, comes out in April? Did you know I am contractually obligated to stop at every cemetery I pass and take a promo photo? Well…at least I think that’s what the contract said…
As always: the rejections come in, the submissions go out…the rejections come in, the submissions go out…the rejections come in, the submissions go out…the rejections come in, the submissions go out…the rejections come in, the submissions go out…the rejections come in, the..
I’ve dreamed about getting my work in
@NightmareMag
for so many years… & today’s the day!!! My NF piece, Walking in Cemeteries, about my time working in graveyards & my debut novel, is online now:

Contract signed! My story, Exoskeletons, will appear in
@PressOrchid
’s upcoming anthology Rewired!!! I’m so excited for this one to be out in the world :)
Every October put together a horror book display at the
#library

Wicked excited for my (lycanthropic?) conservation story, Mother's Wolves, to be out in
@CatapultStory
today!!! I've been working on this one for so long and can't wait for you all to read it :)
Today marks the 9th year anniversary of me tricking this pretty lady to go on a date with me!!! She’s been stuck ever since, but it’s a good kind of stuck. Lots of laughs, lots of adventures, lots of snuggles. All the good stuff. Happy anniversary
@ggriffiss
:)
One more day until my book comes out…One more day until my book comes out…One more day until my book comes out…One more day until my book comes out…One more day until my book comes out… this is the only thought left in my head…
While I never got a story published in Conjunctions, I did write some of my best stories trying to get published in Conjunctions. It’s a sad day for the lit world :(
Things are rough at the moment, but I woke up to a Pushcart nomination from
@flashfictionmag
, which was a nice surprise. I hope everyone’s taking care of themselves/each other out there.
Every year, on New Year’s Eve, I make a list of 15-20 lit mags/genre mags I hope to get into this year. For 2023 I landed acceptances from 4 of them. It was a good year. Anyone else doing this? Where do you hope to place a story this year???
After 5 years of submitting, I'm thrilled I finally have a story in
@hobartpulp
!!!! If you ever wondered what it's like to clean bathrooms at Cape Cod beaches, this one's for you :)
I’ve been so excited about this announcement!!!! My Choose-Your-Own-Adventure style haunted house story is in
@CursedMorsels
’s anthology Why Didn’t You Just Leave with a ton of other amazing authors!!!!
👻Big announcement!👻
We're finally ready to announce the authors whose haunting and horrifying work will make up Why Didn't You Just Leave. What a joy it is to publish their ghost stories!
Do you ever feel like we’re living in China Mieville’s The City & The City, where half of us are into vaccines and science and the other half aren’t, and we live in two very different cities, that are somehow the same city?
Wicked excited for an acceptance from
@nocontactmag
for their upcoming spooky October issue! Creepy house/creepy entity/creeping into your life soon :)
