Indeed! Our recent research shows that Alberta's eastern slopes are *nationally important* for the benefits people get from nature (especially water & recreation).

Cover crops (grasses/forbs) planted at mine sites to reclaim waste piles & other disturbed areas are a great food source for ungulates. Efforts to keep selenium in soils on hillsides & out of fish habitat only succeed in transferring it right into terrestrial ecosystems.

The one thing that conservative governments are proving extraordinarily well is that they are not fit it govern at any level.
We all need to be involved and ensure that they don’t get elected for local, provincial or national seats ever.
