This queer trans doc is in a commercial! I am so proud to represent a company that cares about healthcare workers and puts the time and effort in to create meaningful change.

I can’t go into detial, but I saw my first self-identified non-binary patient in the ED recently. After asking their pronouns and offering my own, it felt important to tell them I am also non-binary. I’ll never forget how their eyes widened with joy. Representation matters.
I’m Erica (she/they). I’m a trans* genderqueer Emergency Medicine doctor in Chicago. In my free time I like to cook, watch cartoons, and write poetry. Here are some pics of me living and thriving BECAUSE I’m trans—not in spite of that fact!

In 18 days I will be reducing my risk of breast cancer as a

positive individual while simultaneously affirming my gender as a

person by undergoing a prophylactic mastectomy. By sharing my story publicly I hope to reassure other high risk folks!

I love being my trans non-binary self. We are here. We’ve always been here. Thank you to my ancestors. To the black trans femmes who’ve fought to create the space for me to live my life authentically—I am eternally grateful.
The double standard women face in medicine is beyond unacceptable. As future leaders, we (current residents) must commit to a zero tolerance policy for any and all comments that reinforce these harmful and overtly misogynistic beliefs.

How can my non-medical partner make friends in Chicago during a pandemic? She’s a wonderful dancer and artist and I don’t wanna keep bringing her to residency things to hear us talk shop 24/7.
Every hospital should publish their vaccine distribution protocol and the names of those involved in the decision making of those protocols. We need to know who values the lives of their residents and support staff.

Was just told I need psychiatric clearance for my prophylactic mastectomy/gender affirming surgery in ten days. What is this gate keeping? Seriously stressed that I won’t be able to get this done in time. Anyone have suggestions?!
Watching your COVID patients tell their family members “I love you” over the phone before being intubated = unimaginably sad. Please stay home and stay safe.

My name is E and I’m a queer trans doctor. I post stuff about life in the ER, lgbtq health advocacy, and reflections on being a new attending. Can I get some RT and new followers to reach 30k by the end of 2024?

to all my fellow trans folks out there shining bright and beautiful in a world that doesn’t deserve your grace or your power. I see you. 💕
This is what a professional looks like. Tattoos. The hair color I want. My gender is visible. My identity is visible. Lets keep advocating for authenticity in medicine. No more gatekeeping.

Sitting in the sun after my first shift in the ED as “Dr. Concors” and realizing how much I don’t know. Can’t wait to look back on this tweet in a year and realize how much I’ve (hopefully) grown.
Big bro graduated residency!

Couldn’t be more proud. This guy is heading to Texas for surg onc after SEVEN years of training. Yeehaw or whatever.
If

were to lose (he won’t) his supporters will go to work tomorrow just as we do everyday. When Biden loses, his “supporters” will likely loot and riot. Tells you everything you need to know!

To anyone who needs to hear this: it’s okay to not be okay right now. Anyone downplaying what you’re feeling comes from a place of privilege. Many of us will put on a brave face tomorrow while our right to exist is decided at the polls. Reach out if you need - you are not alone.
Seems like the hospital is taking my needs seriously. Their formal response is still pending but I feel really supported so far. Hoping to translate this to systemic changes for my and other residency programs at our hospitals.
We have no beds. We are boarding. We are boarding. We are on bypass. We have no nurses. We have no hospitalists. We can’t keep going.
