The most succinct way I can describe the difference between how commander players and non-cmdr players evaluate cards: Commander players care about more words than numbers, the opposite is generally true for non-commander players. Mirkwood Bats is a good recent example of this

Quick thread of underrated BRO cards: Desk is great. Cheap artifact + sac trigger for cards that care about that + good to mill over + really nice cheap card selection. Would not be too sad to take this card early in pack 1. 1/x

As we sunset WOE draft, I want to shout out Bargain as a win of a mechanic. Downside mechanics are tough to get right but they got this one. The “ah ha!” moment of turning a drawback into an advantage is one that’s rewarding to players both new and old.

Gotta say, not huge on the new deck breakdown interface while drafting. You can no longer see your deck/the pack when looking at it, you need to scroll to see all the stats, and more than half the page is taken up by the Avatar/Pet/Sleeves function.

Haven't seen this talked about much. I've been drafting a ton of UW lately, this combo works the way you want it to (once you get to 6 mana, you can rebuy your Imprisonment after activating the exile ability.)

PSA(s) for Tolarian Geyser 1. This is the best common yet wheels close to half the time 2. It always draws a card, even when not kicked. This is something multiple people have told me they didn't notice until they watched someone else play it (this might explain why it wheels)

There’s a fundamental dissonance in EDH deckbuilding/playing: playing more answers/spending time to answer your OPs stuff is less fun than playing more cards that further your own plan The “fun incentives” don’t line up with the price of not letting 1 player steamroll the table.

March of Machine Draft Day 1 Thoughts, A thread: Battles are solid, but aren't format defining. Most decks want 2-3, any more, you have a really tough time flipping them. There aren't many heuristics for evaluating them, but the cheaper the better (for non-rares)

@lsv One of the better cube heuristics I heard recently was either take the 1993 card or the 2019/2020 card, the stuff in the middle is all just there to trick you.

ONE Day one thoughts, A thread!| Lots of discussion about the format being hyper aggro. 10 drafts in, it's felt about average to me. You have to get on board/interact but blocking works, your attacking opponent often has to invest mana and cards to get through.

There are a lot of cards on the enchantment bonus sheet that haven't stood the test of time for being good in limited. This is not one of them. It's likely even better than it's ever been with how many tokens this set has.

MKM limited is turning out to be pretty interesting imo. There are the clearly good/obvious level one decks (RW and UW) but they're not the best by miles. Decks also look quite different from each other draft to draft which is a huge indicator of replayability to me!

Unfortunately, we have to cancel the Limited Resources vs Lords of Limited Showdown we had scheduled for today - the @MTG_Arena Direct Challenge bug persists, and being unable to play each other makes the event impossible. Until this bug is fixed, we are unlikely to run these 🫤
