1/ Despite having similar sized populations, 8️⃣7️⃣% of Marseille’s residents can reach the city centre by public transport in less than 30 mins, compared to only 3️⃣8️⃣% in Leeds.

2/ This reduces the ‘effective size’ of #Leeds , making its labour market much smaller than its total population, which has a knock-on effect on the city’s productivity & economic performance. 📉💼

3/ Our analysis shows that if improvements were made to expand Leeds’ public transport, the share of people who could reach the city centre would increase to 6️⃣1️⃣%. 👉But this still doesn’t close the gap with Marseille.

So, to #LevelUp transport in #Leeds , investment in transport infrastructure must be paired with substantial planning reform to make it easier for people to live near and use public transport. Our report sets out how this can be achieved 👇
