The pin on No. 12 at Northstar today for the OHSAA Division 2 Boys Golf state tournament. Multiple sources on the ground say there have been 5-putts or worse in almost every group, with a few 8+ putts. The 370 yard par-4 is currently playing to an average of 6.28.

We will probably never know because of a lack of golf records kept at the OHSAA level… but you’d have to think there is a decent chance that Kary Hollenbaugh’s 60 today is the best round in OHSAA history. I’ve only heard of a few 62’s in HS competition.

Ohio State’s Maxwell Moldovan wins the Southern Amateur with rounds of 64-68-65-67 (-20). Moldovan broke the championship scoring record by six (!) and didn’t make a bogey in the final 42 holes of the championship.

A lot of talk has been made about the lack of qualifying spots we have, and personally I‘m very high on the idea of more individuals. In two different Central District tournaments, even-par did not even get you into a playoff to advance to States. This system has to change.
