Reminder: The vast majority of abortions - about 90% - occur very early in pregnancy. When they do occur later, it is almost always because a woman’s health or life are at risk, or because her pregnancy is no longer viable.
Marching is great. Knitting a pink pussy hat is great. Calling members of Congress is also great. But voting is the whole deal, and that’s how we are going to change the direction of this country.
For every person who asked me “Can he win?”, this goes out to you. When Ann Richards was elected Governor of Texas, not one poll showed us winning. But we did because folks never gave up. Polls don’t vote; people do! Let’s make it happen for
@BetoORourke
& progressives across TX.

The bill that was passed in Alabama is an all-out abortion ban. But make no mistake: Women across the country see what is happening, and they are going to be the deciding voters in the 2020 election.
I’m a free citizen - no one has asked me to do this - but I am honestly sick of men going after women any time we dare demand equal power. For all of these reasons and more, I enthusiastically support
@NancyPelosi
for Speaker.
12 years ago, I almost didn't go to the job interview at Planned Parenthood. I had a long list of reasons why I wasn't qualified. So I did what any grown woman would do: I called my mom. Ann Richards wasn't having it - she told me to get a grip, and thank goodness she did!
Any woman who has been called before a Republican-led panel knows it’s not about “fact-finding.” It’s political theater masquerading as a search for truth.
Excited to volunteer for
@BetoORourke
& help elect him Governor of Texas! Like my Mom, the late Governor Ann Richards, he knows our best days are ahead. 👊🏽👊🏼👊🏿
To my fellow white women: We have got to do better. It is not up to women of color to save this country from itself. That's on all of us.

A few *real* national emergencies:
- Women today are 50% more likely than their mothers to die in childbirth
- Black women are 3-4 times as likely as white women to die in childbirth
- For a woman making minimum wage in America, full-time childcare costs nearly 2/3 of her income
I’ve had the honor of working alongside
@HeidiHeitkamp
over the years. She is a wonderful person who stood up for her principles, despite what it cost her. Tonight, women across America are sending her our profound gratitude. 💔
There were many horrifying statements during the SCOTUS hearing. But the low point for me was Justice Kavanaugh’s statement that this case is hard because ‘we can’t accommodate the interests of both the woman and the fetus’: it was clear who he was prioritizing and it isn’t women
And there we have it! Dr. Oz just told us decisions about abortion should be made by “a woman, her doctor, and local elected officials.” 😳 Vote for
@JohnFetterman
The last six months have been wild - but thanks to incredible health care providers and the support of family and friends, I’m doing really well.
I’ve felt lucky all my life, and I feel lucky now: to be here, doing this work, alongside all of you.
Wealthy women will always be able to access abortion, even if it’s illegal. Criminalizing abortion especially impacts women who already have the least access to health care.
I would really love to hear Elliot Broidy’s views on Roe. You know, the RNC deputy finance chair who says he paid for his mistress’ abortion?
Is he relieved he got in under the wire?
I had an abortion. It was the right decision for me, and it wasn't a hard one. My husband and I were working more than full time and had three kids already. I was fortunate that, at the time, accessing abortion in TX was not the nightmare it is now.

Next time someone tries to brush aside the issues that affect women’s lives as “social issues” or “identity politics,” remember that nearly 2/3 of minimum wage earners in America are women, disproportionately women of color.
Marching is great. Knitting pussy hats is great. Writing postcards to Congress is great. But voting? That’s the whole ballgame, and that’s how we’re going to change the direction of this country. So before Tuesday, reach out to 5 friends and make sure they have a plan to vote.
I will never forget the meeting with her, when I was at PP, where she told me in the middle of that fight that she would not pass the ACA if it banned insurance coverage for abortion. Though many "progressive" men were willing to throw women under the bus, she was not.
Many years ago I chose to have an abortion. I wasn’t the survivor of rape or incest, my life wasn’t at risk - I was simply a mom of three kids and had become unexpectedly pregnant. I had an abortion in Texas & went on to live my life. No dramatic story, no shame, just the facts.
When I worked for
@NancyPelosi
, she had just become Democratic Whip - the first woman of either party to hold that rank. She whipped the caucus to vote against the war in Iraq, even after Democratic Leader Dick Gephardt stood with President Bush in support of the war.
SCOTUS today: upholds the immoral Muslim ban and says it’s just fine for fake clinics paid for with tax $ to lie to women about their pregnancies and withhold medical information. We’ve got to be ready for November.
ICYMI: Congresswomen are dressed in white today for

should be the next Speaker of the House because she is extraordinarily good at it. We need her now more than ever to be a check on this administration.
Women are nearly half the workforce, more than half of college students, more than half of voters. The issues we care about shouldn't be dismissed as "social issues" or "identity politics" - they should be recognized as central to a growing economy and a functioning democracy.
Your periodic reminder: Marching is great. Knitting pussy hats is great. Getting together with friends, drinking wine, and writing irate postcards to members of Congress is great. But voting? That's how we transform this country.
I’m so excited to introduce you to
@supermajority
→ a new home for women’s activism.
Supermajority will be a place to stay informed, take meaningful action, and connect with other women activists—newcomers and veterans alike. Join us:
I have a suggestion! For all the men writing to me asking what I’m going to do - consider this an invitation to start organizing men to fight back. You don’t need permission from any of us, or a road map - there are thousands of talented organizers in this country - get going!
Thank you
@SenGillibrand
for putting women at the front and center of your campaign from the very beginning.
You brought the issues women cared about into the national conversation with fight, grit and so much bravery.
As I have traveled the country over the last year listening to women, I have met more than I can count who have been inspired by
@HillaryClinton
to run for office, march, organize, and come together to solve big, important problems. As Mom would say, you can't un-ring a bell.
I'm excited to see
@CecileRichards
,
@aliciagarza
,
@aijenpoo
, and the Pantsuit Nation community build this powerful new force for gender equity. Supermajority's goal is to train and mobilize 2 million women over the next two years.
