Re: creative burnout. I spoke about this with another artist recently and figured I'd share it here in case it benefits anyone else. For a lot of people, myself included creative burnout is not necessarily the result of a very busy schedule. It's not that you "worked too hard".

It's been said before in a lot of different ways, but being able to draw things accurately from memory is not the pinnacle of being a good artist. It's a cool trick, like remembering the first 50 decimals of Pi, but that doesn't necessarily make you a good mathematician either.

To whomever it helps to know: - I work 4-5 hours a day on average. I have at least 1 day off every week. - I have never filled a physical sketchbook. Traditional "doodling" doesn't come naturally to me at all. - I hardly ever do separate studies. I tend to learn "on the job".

PSA; Your style in art is like your handwriting. You'll have your own way of doing things even without trying and you can always develop it later on. But for beginners? Worrying about style is like worrying about how pretty your writing is when you don't understand grammar yet.

Animal anatomy tip: Look up "hairless" breeds or mutations to get a better understanding of what the musculature looks like underneath the fur. Of course you need to keep breed differences in mind regardless, but it can help to make the structure click.

PLAN YOUR BREAKS and then ACTUALLY LET YOURSELF HAVE THEM. There's a huge difference, mentally, between having a bad day and deciding to let it go to waste (while still good sometimes), and having actually planned for a day where you will not have to do any frustrating tasks.
