Been watching football for more than 25 years and Pedri is the greatest under 20 years old midfielders I've ever seen. Not even Iniesta was this good at his age. Nor did he have such an influential role within the team. For Pedri, sky is the limit.

This is the problem when you're not a native English speaker (like me) : one small mistake & it changes the meaning of the sentence & there's people attacking you. Why would he lie? He probably meant "like" a little boy. "As" & "Like" are the same word in spanish : "como".

When they show goals from Barรงa's history, there's all the strikers from all the decades, but always one guy who's missing : Kluivert. And I always wondered why... He was our main forward for 5 years, scoring around 20 goals per season, the Eto'o or Suรกrez of his era.

There's something abt one-twos & third man runs that makes them so difficult to defend. The one defending it has to check the position of the ball after the 1st pass is made and, for a microsecond, loses sight of the runner. Look at Thomas Partey. It's almost unconscious. #Messi

Gundogan is probably shocked by the lack of football IQ of some of our players. Since he's been at Barรงa, in most games you can see him waving his hands multiple times, begging them to calm down and play some passes instead of being super direct & quickly attacking.

I feel like Messi did all those actions he was known for throughout his career : the incredible run down the right wing (Croatia), the unexpected assist (Holland), the long range shot (Mex), the low cross-shot (Australia). Perhaps only thing missing was scoring a free kick.

One reason why Barรงa's midfielders play better with the Spanish NT is IMHO their role. Although the organization & starting positions is pretty similar (4-3-3, occupy the half-spaces etc), Pedri & Gavi are not instructed to constantly attack the box or move in ways that would 1/x

I often criticize Xavi, but I felt really bad after Laporta & Deco forced him to change the squad for Antwerp & undermined his authority. Yet he stayed gracious & didn't make a drama out of it. He's a club man & I'm sure he's dealing w/ a lot of internal drama silently. 1/X

About Griezmann : either play him from the start, or for the last 20-30 minutes, or bench him full 90min, or don't call him up at all. But don't give a player of that magnitude 5 minutes. There are some unwritten rules in fรบtbol, everyone knows. PWhat Setiรฉn did was humiliation.

It breaks my heart to see the situation in Ukraine. But I won't lie, it's kinda surreal to see the level of international support & interest it instantly gathered, while few were outraged or provided help when some African or Arab countries went through similar struggles...

I read a lot of criticism for the way Arsenal & Barรงa players celebrate theirs wins lately. Me I just see squads made of young players who are happy to play together and enjoying the first victories in big games in their careers. I see ambition & team spirit, that's all.

Kudos to Xavi for giving regular playing time to new academy players. what's surprising is that he sometimes does so in key games vs tough opponents. very courageous because they could very well panic & drop a stinker and he's the one who'd get criticized.

Barรงa's last games : Arthur so mobile that he tends to regularly invade Busquets's zone, causing problems in build-up : not enough spacing, closing passing lanes, facilitating the opponent's pressing. Sometimes too much mobility can be detrimental.

Pedri is lately dropping a masterclass per game and frankly it's scary to think he's still 19, already the technical leader of this team and with high margin of progress. What impresses me the most is still his ability to use both feet for ball control, carrying & passing.

From a marketing perspective Neymar damaged his image in this WC (I know, not 100% his fault, but still). Everyone laughing @ him. Like a meme. IDK how long this will last but no doubts the brands working w/ him must be furious at this loss of credibility

We used to have the False 9 at Barรงa, but now Koeman invented the Triple 9 by playing Luuk De Jong, Piquรฉ & Araujo as center forwards. Never say he's not reinventing the game.

We have the experienced strikers (Auba, Lewy), the fast wingers entering their prime years (OD, Rafa) and the promising youngsters (Ansu, Ferran). Memphis is a very good player but all the spots are taken.

What Real Madrid does in the UCL, the remontadas, the clutch goals, etc is so strange. Doing it in 1 game or 1 ssn could eventually be explained by tactics or talent. But not when it happens regularly for ~20 years with different squads/coaches. IMHO they have a "cultural edge".

Just from a conceptual perspective, it's quite a failure that Barรงa of all teams couldn't produce decent players for the pivot position from La Masรญa. Buying strikers or full-backs or dribblers, I can understand. But central midfielders, passers, that's like our thing.

Valverde has performed very well for Barรงa despite the Roma loss. Guardiola not reaching UCL final since leaving Barรงa doesn't make him a fraud. Messi is the GOAT despite not winning any World Cup. => Judge people based on long term patterns, not 2 or 3 particular events.

Frenkie had a top performance vs Villarreal as a DM. I especially liked that he played 1-touch passes, kept the ball moving quickly from side to side. Holding onto the ball for too long, running forward, being caught out of position & leaving the back 4 unprotected 1/x

Part of what being a captain or a leader mean is to be able to make the right decisions under pressure and control one's emotions. Araujo & Xavi's weren't able to do so today. Their red cards were both unnecessary & left the team without 2 key leaders in a crucial moment.

I enjoyed the Pep vs Klopp rivalry more than the Pep vs Mourinho one. Because there was less toxicity in the former, mostly just football. His challenge was to take a struggling historic club & put it back at the top and he succeeded. Tremendous legacy! ๐Ÿงข๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

The pillars of Xavi's Barรงa : 4-3-3. Most of the times asymmetric. Left winger operating down the half-space (Ferran, Gavi). Left CM (Fdj) w/ freedom to go deep while Alba goes forward. Right winger who always stays wide (Adama, OD). Right FB mostly inverted (Alves, Dest). 1/x

Laporta joined mid-season & had to support & deal w/ what was already here. Now it's on him. He should bring his (& sporting direction's) chosen coaching staff if he doesn't trust Koeman 100%. And only keep Koeman if he's willing to support him unconditionally. No half measures.

That's what's preventing Dembรฉlรฉ from reaching the next level. Accurate game reading. A *free* ball carrier ready to assist = the play screams for a run in the space behind that left CB. Instead he walks towards Puig. I wish he had that killer instinct.
