Today Irish Cancer Society partners with the Trinity St James’s Cancer Institute to invest in new programmes integrating scientific discovery with patient care to pioneer novel ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer.
Trinity St James’s Cancer Institute is delighted to announce the first CAR T cell therapy treatment has taken place in

today. This is the first CAR T treatment to take place in Ireland & is led by Dr Larry Bacon, Consultant Haematologist & Liz Higgins CAR T Coordinator.

The initial wave of CAR T therapies will be directed at haematological cancers, research and development are ongoing to treat other forms of cancers with this type of immune therapy and the indications are that it is expected to expand to include solid tumours.
