Americans are going to riot and/or overthrow their government pretty soon, actually. We are in the very late stage of a political legitimacy crisis *and* a US fiscal crisis at the same time. This is France 1788 stuff we're seeing today.
(Note: this is not a joke).
This is so silly. The deficit is decreasing because weโre not doing pandemic aid anymore, and federal receipts are up because of inflation. Congress, or the Biden administration, didnโt do anything to lower the deficit.
Under my predecessor, the deficit increased every single year.
This year, weโre on track to cut the deficit by $1.5 trillion โ the biggest one-year decline ever.
It matters to families, because reducing the deficit is one of the main ways we can ease inflationary pressures.
ICYDK current DoorDash discourse was explicitly made to mock a disabled person severe histamine intolerance via MCAS (which 1 in 6 people had pre-Covid, so a common chronic illness) so they canโt eat leftovers, because other disabilities prevent them from cooking every day
Ok this is pretty funny.
Texas passed a law *requiring* schools to display any donated 'In God We Trust' poster: they are breaking the law if someone donates a poster and they don't display it.
So an activist is donating those posters but in Arabic.
China bans any video game with
* Any non-gender conforming character
* Any gay relationship
* Effeminate men
* Any game where you have to make moral choices between good/bad
Africa's child mortality rate today is better than Europe's child mortality rate was in the 1950s.
The world, despite all of our setbacks, really is getting better.
I have so many questions.
What did Liberia, Sri Lanka, and India do to piss off MAGA world?
What'd Trump do to win over...the uhh Black Sea and Caspian Sea?
Why is Iran pro-Trump?
Why is Cuba anti Trump, but Venezuela isn't?
And congrats to Trump for winning Antarctica I guess.
Was this the first-ever explicitly YIMBY comment in a debate??
โThe land use restrictions are constricting the supply of housing. Thatโs making housing more expensive for ordinary Americansโ
You eat better food than kings did a few hundred years ago. A high school education (not to mention college) is orders of magnitude more education than 99% of people got.
We are so much freer, healthier, wealthier, more educated & more equal now that it's hard to put into words.
When Botswana became independent, their GDP/per capita was only $90 per person (in 2020 USD). They had less than 15% of nearby South Africa's GDP per capita.
They've not only caught up, they now have a 32% higher GDP than South Africa. GDP per capita has grown 75x in 55 years.
The first three are obviously very bad, but the last is most interesting.
It seems like a crackdown on any sort of moral/critical thinking. As silly as it sounds... if you can question the morals of a game then you can question the morals of the CCP? And they can't have that.
It is wildly irresponsible to call for pauses on the Johnson&Johnson vaccine because 6 people in 7 million got blood clots.
This image from the AstraZeneca debacle applies, except the claimed incidence here for J&J is even lower.
"Bernie would be a centrist in Europe"
* Boring
* Factually incorrect
* Stale talking point
"Donald Trump would be a cultural leftist in Saudi Arabia"
* Fresh, Exciting
* Correct
* Really gets the twitterati going
This from
@jbarro
seems extremely correct. Make republicans vote on this, make them publicly declare their intensely unpopular positions, one at a time.
