❌ Reacting to the launch of the ‘Fresh Ale’ concept by CMBC, CAMRA has asked for investigations into whether the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations have been breached.

CAMRA believes pubs should be welcoming and inclusive places and it's baffling that any pub would choose to discriminate against customers or potential customers by continuing to display offensive material.
🧵👇
Following discussions with the branch & our volunteer leadership yesterday evening, the White Hart's entry in the Good Beer Guide has been deleted & will not be submitted for forthcoming guides while the pub continues to be operated in a way counter to CAMRA's values and policies
We are currently discussing why this guidance was seemingly ignored by our South West Essex branch & instructing them not to consider the White Hart, Grays, Essex, for future awards, or inclusion in our Good Beer Guide, while these discriminatory dolls continue to be on display.
We have had clear national guidelines in place since 2018 that no pub should be considered for an award if it displays offensive or discriminatory material on the premises, or on social media associated with the pub.
We'd encourage anyone to alert us to CAMRA activity at a branch, or national level, which does not adhere to our values, codes of conduct or policies to contact us using our feedback and complaints form at
We have therefore made an edit to the entry on WhatPub and the resulting Good Beer Guide App description to warn about the discriminatory material on display, while we continue to review the situation:
Commenting on a promotional poster from JD Wetherspoon advertising lower prices for alcoholic drinks after the Government’s VAT reduction, please find attached a joint comment from Tom Stainer, CAMRA Chief Executive & James Calder, Chief Executive of
@SIBA01
.
As many have pointed out, the description featured on CAMRA’s database Whatpub and the Good Beer Guide App, submitted by the local branch in question, is problematic and makes light of the offensive nature of the materials displayed at the White Hart.
CAMRA's What Pub, which is a directory of all pubs, rather than a recommendation of quality, will continue to list the pub, but full details have been removed. Discussions are ongoing about local awards which may have been made in contravention of CAMRA policies.

It's vital that wet-led pubs get this payment as soon as possible - this is the only relief that they have been offered for months of restrictions that have unfairly disadvantaged pubs that don't serve food.
*BREAKING*
74% of wet-led pubs are STILL waiting on Christmas grants AND half of November lockdown grants are STILL yet to be paid.
This is completely unacceptable. The Government must deliver grants to pubs in desperate need of them immediately.
CAMRA has called on governments to adapt the tier systems to let all pubs trade in December, after new YouGov research finds that the majority of pub-goers believe that pubs & other hospitality venues offer a COVID-secure environment.
