I like tipping - it makes me feel like I am directly helping someone that is trying hard to better their situation.
I always ask if the get to keep the tips - in Miami - a lot of places take the tips from the employees which annoys me to no end.
@BryceWGarcia
I think that's a scarcity mindset.
I'd encourage people to focus on growing their income. That way you can happily be generous to the hourly cashier.
What's a few extra bucks to you then?
@JoshuaImel
Could be but it already doesn’t impact me that much. Can’t deny that it’s out of control. Especially for people and families not well off financially.

welcome to the rest of the world?
american restaurant owners need to convert into an actual employer, and pay their employees a proper wage. you know like any other business.
@BryceWGarcia
Tipping in advance is beyond ridiculous. Tipping is for good service, why would I tip prior to receiving service? I've gone to restaurants with good service and had no issue tipping, but if the service is bad or if its just a take out order, custom 0%.
@BryceWGarcia
My favorite is dollar amount tips instead of percentage based tips for small items. No, I’m not tipping $1.50 for a drip coffee. It’s insane enough you are charging $3.50 plus tax for an 8oz drip coffee to begin with.
@BryceWGarcia
It's hard to justify the same 20% tip to a person who rings up your order as a restaurant server who provided service for your entire meal

I look at it this way,
A TIP means:
To Insure Promtness
If I go anywhere that I’m going to be a return customer I ALWAYS tip big.
Next time I come back - I’m always treated like a king.
