My lovely Aunt Laju is in London this week. As a 10 yr old during the 1947 Partition, she fled Sindh 🇵🇰for Bombay🇮🇳.Unable to go «home» since. Despite that, she’s proud that her nephew is an ambassador for the country🇬🇧that colonised her. History is complex. Love isn’t. ❤️

The UK-India « Living Bridge » is flowing and alive in #Djibouti ! Indian 🇮🇳 naval ship, INS Tarkash arrived in 🇩🇯 & hosted a superb lunch - inc amazing food from my childhood. And the frigate design is called….« Talwar » (no, really!) Thank you Commodore Rastogi! 🇬🇧 🇮🇳 🇩🇯

UK diplomacy has changed for the better. @SimonMcDonaldUK joined in 1982 and never had a female boss. I joined in 2003 and my first 8 bosses were women. Glad that Simon kept up the momentum; recommending @MennaRawlings @jillgallard et al among 1st UK G7 female ambassadors
