Please pray for a family in our youth group at church. Their 3 daughters were hit head on by a wrong way driver at Anton on Hwy 84 last night. The 2 oldest girls have passed and the youngest is in ICU but expected to survive. Car behind them hit them after the head on collision.
For those of you who wonder why we use breaking plows in West Texas under certain conditions. The left picture is the broke ground we plowed last few days. The right picture is no till Field with a cover crop that has failed and blown out. Cover crops are great when they work
Not to start a fight but these pictures show why no-till cover crops donโt work everywhere. These 2 patches of dryland cotton are 1/4 mile apart. It has been dry here and we have not had the rainfall to replace the moisture the cover crop used vs conventional till system.
My crop insurance agent might as well open up a large claim review on all my crop insurance policies. This is not what we needed on our cotton we just scratched and replanted. Frustrating year.
Please keep the Devin Andrews family in your prayers. He was killed in a auto accident in Floyd County last night coming home from dove hunting. He was friend of Turnerโs and worked for us at Heffington Farms. He was attending TEXAS Tech University and was from Mount Vernon,Tx
Tonight my youngest son Turner made the biggest decision of his life to put on Christ in baptism so we headed up to the church and got it done!! I am really blessed to have had the privilege of baptizing all 3 of my sons and my wife! God loves us!! Nothing else trumps that!!
Fun. Home place has never blown like this before. And yes I had a 3โ tall rye cover crop thatโs toast now. Storm blew pivot down too so canโt run it right now. Gonna have to list a few acres behind house and get a roll of Poly pipe and water some oats up.
Something just feels right with your soul harvesting at sunset looking at the pictures God paints sending us his message that โHeโs got this!! He is in control of this world !!โ

is finally big enough to operate a tractor and field cultivator and loving it. Wifeโs pretty sure Iโm violating some labor law with all the hours he has but he is loving his pay check and is making a hand! MaMaโs baby! Itโs invaluable to teach your kids not to give up!
A lot of people have asked me to describe this yearโs crop after it turned out being a flop. Itโs like knowing your wife ordered something from Victoria Secrets and you get all excited but when it gets here itโs flannel pajamas๐ญ huge disappointment!
#FlannelPajamasLivesMatter
No one was hurt. Had a rig hydroplane after a shower, Next to last load๐ญ. Thanks for letting us borrow your yard Mike Richie. Sorry you were making a sandwich looking out the window when the big rig was heading right at your window. Grow corn they said. Itโs will be fun!
August 1st 1992. The day my youngest brother Brian died in a car wreck. He was 19. Hard to believe itโs been that long. I often wonder what it would be like if he was still around. My mom has passed, please say a prayer for my dad. This is always a hard day. Droughts are nothing.
I am only 54 but it seems the world of business is way more complicated than 34 years ago when I started farming and even just being a consumer. So many ignorant rules. No one has common sense anymore or can resolve issues. Anyone else feel this way???
I know the crop doesnโt look good when my wife will make me my favorite pie, pink lemonade pie. My youngest granddaughter wanted some and this is her reaction. After she took a few bites and made these reactions she couldnโt get enough. Was pretty funny at first!!
A couple of my employees, Santos Garcia & Jessie Ortiz, did this in honor of my dad Charles Heffington and Santoโs dad Joe Garcia who worked for me for 30 years. We lost both of those good men this past year. My dad would often say โJesus Savesโ miss those guys๐ข
Hard to Listen to Joe Biden talk about fighting for โAmericaโs soulโ when most of the Democrats wonโt defend the lives of unborn children. That just struck me really wrong. Thatโs all I have to say about that.
Got 3- 54โ rotary hoes running trying to dig this cotton out. Maybe it can push through. Replanting what was up because hailed it all out. Always hard to decide when to scratch. If it rains on it again probably wonโt come up. If we wait will crust worse and will big shank.
Well thatโs a wrap for 2019 crop. Milo, Corn, and cotton all out. I am glad this year dang year is over. Itโs been real. A real something. Thank you Lord for keeping my family and employees safe. Itโs all over but the crying now.
Had lunch with a fertility consultant from our Coop yesterday. The kid had never heard of cotton trailers or had a clue what you would need one for. Told him about when I was young and had to throwback in the trailers and when I helped dad at the gin I was the Trailer Parker and
I really appreciate the jack wagon that tore his fence down and trimmed his trees and took the time to drive down my turn rows and dump his stuff out instead of driving a couple more miles to the landfill. Whatโs wrong with people these days. They throw furniture and junk down
I would like someone in the media to recognize OL Travis Bruffy for his downfield touchdown saving tackles after those 2 interceptions tonight. Big guy has some wheels!! Maybe he needs moved to middle linebacker?? Lineman are like Rodney Dangefield, they get no respect!!
Lord, please keep the farmers on the coast and the Rio Grande Valley safe as they work 24 hours a day to get their crops out before the tropical storm hits. Amen.
When I pay my property taxes each year on 1-31 and I pick my jaw back up off of the floor after writing the check I just remind myself itโs a privilege to live in a country where you can own property!๐บ๐ธ
Lord, we pray that these clouds over us today bless our area with some much needed significant moisture. Thank you for the blessings you give our country and us as individuals. In your sonโs name, Amen.
1.1โ of rain at my barn right now! What a Blessing! That gets us to only 2.4โ total since September 2017 but we will take anything! It was like this in 1990 and finally rained July 27. July 26th this year. I sure hope itโs 28 years before this happens again! Pray for Rain!
Thank you to the littlefield volunteer fire department for saving one of my my cotton stripper balers tonight. We had quite some excitement for a little while by Wildcat Stadium! I really appreciate my hometown. Wildcat Magic runs through everything here. Extraordinary effort
Got a new knee today. It was nearly as high as a sack of parts from the John Deere house. I expect to be like Lee Majors tomorrow!(probably too old a joke for many of you)
#BionicMan
The look on my face when the local John Deere dealer doesnโt have a belt for the trash auger on a cotton stripper during harvest season. Hurst Farm Supply in Lubbock did and had that belt and another whole set for the burr extractor laying out for me when I walked in. Thanks HFS
Con. Jodey Arrington of West Texas is the Chuck Norris of Cotton fighting for our industry! Awesome job by my Congressman asking and stressing for a commitment to the US trade Rep. to make sure cotton is included in the China trade deal!! Please watch!!
Finally a nice day to spray and cotton finally starting to grow. Itโs later than we would all like but maybe the fall will be good. Maybe Mother Nature is off a month too! โGonna ride my cotton till I canโt ride no more!โ
Turtles donโt lie! We got 2โ plus at Spade, Tx this am. First rain like this in 5 years! I was thinking we would never get a 2โ rain again. โฆ

Had a birthday dinner for my dad tonight. April Burns made an awesome cake for us that looks like an old school cotton bale! Old cotton ginners will understand. It just keeps turning out good and was tag

for my dad! Happy Birthday Dad!
Well good news is we got 5.1โ of rain. Bad news is it hailed really bad, even hailed out the stop sign by our house. Lost a lot of crops last night. Will be awhile before we can get in field but at least we have moisture to plant again.
This moisture actually hit the ground! Had .2 to .5 just north of littlefield but I will gladly take it! Dry at Hartโs Camp, Spade, South of Littlefield, and a shower at Fieldton. Was sooo nice to see. Maybe this will be the start of some normal rain for us this year hopefully.
Answered prayers! We received 1.5-2โ of rain over the last week. Brings us to 4.9โ since last Sept. , still extremely dry but glad to know it can still rain! I know itโs still very spotty and pray maybe we can start to end this drought! My guy putting some Generic Pix on cotton.
Baby girl Heffington coming October 6th!! Congrats to my Oldest son Tanner and his wife Kambra!!! Kim told our 3 boys she wants 12 granddaughters because she has been outnumbered all these years!Tanner has her wish rolling with 2 now. Pretty sure I cannot afford this scenario!!
Here is a picture for all the analyst and everyone that thinks the cotton crop is fine in West Texas and itโs only dry land cotton thatโs struggling. This is a great visual snapshot of whatโs going on out here even with irrigation. It is very dry. Please pray for rain.
We at Hurst Farm Supply hope everyone understands how drastically we all need rain right now. We would like to invite all businesses, farmers, and others to take a moment Thursday morning at 9:00am to join us in praying for rain.
Row of Shame! Evidently I canโt count to 8. Was only for 1/2 mile. Was gonna fire the guy that did it but I already talk to myself. My oldest son drove up right when I discovered it. Great. Will never hear end of it now! My 3 Boys seem to think I am a hard A dad. Go figure.
Burning plenty of midnight diesel to finish harvest 2019 before the ice storm! Itโs going to be close! Going to need a few hours tomorrow! Down to the last 3 places. They are all next to each other so we are rock n rollin!
Miss my little brother. He would have been 51 today. I bet he is running over Muleshoe Mules all Day in Heaven running 232 Wham. Till we meet again. Forever 19โค๏ธ
LITTLEFIELD Sr Wildcats pay tribute to the fallen soldiers in Afghanistan with 13 flags and a calling out of the fallenโs names and a long moment of silence! Awesome tribute Coach Thomas! Way to teach Leadership, humbleness, respect, and honor. More proud of that than the Win!
27 yrs ago today my youngest brother Brian died in a car accident, He was only 19. Sure miss him. Often wonder what his family would be like. He loved everyone. He had the unique gift of making you want to rip his head off, hug him, and laugh at the same time. Till we meet again!
Does anyone have a picture of some cotton thatโs up and growing? I have forgotten what it looks like. I want to print it out and tape it to my dash so I remember what to look for.
BOOM:
Listen to this crowd ROAR when
@realDonaldTrump
and the First Lady walk on the field at the National Championship
I donโt care if heโs booed in Washington DC
This is how real Americans feel about our president
Incredible!
RT so the media has to cover this!
Lineman get no respect, haha. The way I read the AJ, Nathan Sullivan was the only 3A area football player selected to the TSWA 1st team but the only pictures in the article are of 2 QBโs who were named Honorable mention. Kudos to them, but a big congrats to Nathan! Lineman Rule!!
Some will not get this.
Captainโs Log, Star Date 9-12-2020. Still no visible signs of life in this strange part of the galaxy. It appears seeds of hope have been sown but results are negative so far. Kirk out.
Wonder if this corn will green up any if it rains in September to make a better cover or hay even. Was nearly 3โ tall when it started drying up and collapsed. Tumbleweeds are even sorry and I have seen them be the only thing that grows in a drought. Rains in May sure gave us
2022 harvest finally finished. One of my guys took this picture as they climbed off the strippers (cotton) just now! A lot of acres, not so many bales. Hoping 2023 is our year in West TEXAS! Thank you Lord for what we were blessed with. We should always be grateful!
