Firefighters on the #LefthandCanyonFire worked through the day to finish mopping up and patrolling containment lines. As of tonight, the Lefthand Canyon Fire is 100% contained and remained at 460 acres. Firefighters will be assigned to patrol the fire in the coming days.

Within the evacuation area there are approximately 900 homes. We have had many residents from that area check in at the evacuation point at the North Boulder Complex on Broadway and Iris. Only 4 residents have needed to be set up with shelter for the night. #CalWoodFire

Crews made good progress on the #LefthandCanyonFire constructing fireline along lines of retardant. Helicopters dropped water to cool heat from interior hot spots while crews monitored for spot fires. Firefighters will continue building and improving containment lines today.

The #CalWoodFire remains 85% contained. Today, the fire was tested by high winds, but showed no signs of smoke or heat. Additionally, an MMA flight detected no heat sources. This video, taken today, shows the blowing snow/dust/ash in the fire perimeter, which can look like smoke.

In the steeper terrain in the western end, crews monitored as the fire slowly worked its way down the canyon towards Highway 7. As of tonight, the CalWood Fire is 10,073 acres and 55% contained.
