Farewell from the NL Central, Tommy Pham. As a parting gift, here's the time Tim McCarver said you didn't have to worry at all about your monster lead because Jon Lester "is not gonna throw to first base" and then he immediately picked you off.
On May 1, the Chicago Cubs were alone in last place in the NL Central, 5.0 games behind the Cardinals.
On June 1, the Chicago Cubs are alone in first place in the NL Central, 0.5 games ahead of the Cardinals.
Took this 10min after game! I wish every player felt this way. Nick ๐being a Cub and ๐ playing
@Wrigley
heโs grateful 2 wear a Cub jersey. He takes nothing 4granted not 1play not 1pitch!! We need more players like Nick!! He plays the game the right way

Fun fact: there have been actual, Major League inside-the-park home runs that took longer than Christopher Morel did running the bases last night. ๐
Cubs pitching staff has a seriously Texas flavor ...
Cole Hamels: from Rangers
Kyle Hendricks: from Rangers
Carl Edwards: from Rangers
Jesse Chavez: from Rangers
Yu Darvish: former Ranger
Jon Lester: wears cowboy hats
CUBS COME BACK AND WIN IT OVER THE CARDINALS!!! YOU COULD NOT WRITE A BETTER SCRIPT FOR THE CUBS' RETURN TO A FULLY OPEN WRIGLEY FIELD!!!!! THIS IS HEAVEN!!!!!
This is so freaking awesome. The Iowa Cubs clinched their first postseason appearance in a decade, and who is right there to greet every single one of them as they come off the field? Willson Contreras.
I am speechless. I cannot believe that was the ending play. Mike Tauchman robbing a would-be walk-off homer. Instead, it's a walk-off robbery. Cubs win again. Wow wow wow wow wow.
I'm not sure I can remember a "better" four-game Cubs winning streak.
1. Incredible comeback against Josh Hader in the 9th.
2. No-hitter.
3. Walk-off.
4. Walk-off.
The context is what makes this moment so powerful. If this happened in a tight October game, it'd be amazing, but you would EXPECT the crowd might be chanting a guy's name.
This was a 33-degree, early April blowout game, with no real reason to be chanting. Except Wrigley.
Some don't know of a very good decision the Cubs made when adding video boards to historic Wrigley Field: the score was kept off the video boards intentionally, so the eye is still regularly drawn to the Old Scoreboard in center, where the score is kept at Wrigley Field.
