The legend of Kyle Dake ’13 (

) began at the 2010 NCAA Championships, which saw Dake win his first of four national championships. As the top-seeded wrestler at 141 pounds, Dake defeated No. 6-seeded Montell Marion of Iowa in the finals, 7-3.

In 2018, Yianni Diakomihalis became the second Cornell wrestler to earn a national title as a freshman, using a late cradle to defeat top-seeded Bryce Meredith, 7-4. Diakomihalis defeated the likes of Dean Heil and Jaydin Eierman on his way to the 141-pound title.
