Amon is not a Communist.
He is a Blackshirt.
He is a member of the ruling elite masquerading as a "man of the people" to divide the working class, sow chaos and eliminate minorities.
@BadSocialism
Still gotta resume watching Korra (I'm in the first few eps), but from what I've read of the show: you are right, and should indeed say these things
@BadSocialism
If that's accurate. I know of another blackshirt... Mista_Greenie, a Kick/Twitch streamer who has a rich real estate developer mother who publicly presents himself as an apolitical member of the lower class...but is actually a rich conservative right-winger.
@BadSocialism
The issue is they 100% were just doing the “communists are actual rich elitists who want to do what capitalists already do but we ignore” trope
@BadSocialism
@jessiegender
That's because the writers are liberals. You can certainly connect an Ideology to every villain, but only through their lens and not one of actual theory. It's so much fun.
@BadSocialism
This is why I get pissed off when people say that Amon was actually the good guy. He was a literal bender profiting off the oppression of non-benders by posing as a “savior.” Yes he did have a point with the anti-bending stuff, but it hid much darker intentions
@BadSocialism
Infuriating that this is an unpopular opinion and not the obvious read for so many.
"Fascism and communism are brothers!... as long as you accept that communism is this specific definition and is always instigated by someone with ties to the elite class controlling you."
Insane
