Going back through some peoples reactions to MK1 at EVO, saw at least a few comments say that Li Mei was giving them Michelle Yeoh vibes. I actually referenced her a lot when animating her facial performance so I'm happy to hear that came across.

Didn't sleep much last night, responded to a few comments yesterday that came across as rude and upset a lot of people, which was the last thing I wanted. Forgot how easy it is to misinterpret someone's tone when all you have are text. Was the last thing I wanted to do or be.

@encyclopediamk Ya, In a perfect world, we would have had all the actors in but the Pandemic made things really difficult there. Rain was one we were still able to have a model scanned before everything locked down. Mileena was built from the Kitana model scans with the customizing for the mouth

Rambo looks absolutely amazing. We weren't able to get a 3D scan with Stallone like we normally would because of Covid and had to model his face from scratch. Our Character team really knocked it out of the park with him. I hope everyone is as blown away as I am with him.

@encyclopediamk Rambo had to be sculpted completely from scratch by our character and modeling teams (they did an AMAZING JOB). There was a lot of back and forth between them and us to capture his likeness, looking at all the reference we could find, old movies, interviews, etc.

@encyclopediamk The movie skins were a bit of a hybrid. Would have preferred to get scans of them but again, Covid, and doing a full from scratch sculpt like we did with Rambo takes a long time. It's not just that base model but all the blendshape sculpts that make up the rig also (100's)

@Ghostface_4_MK1 MK11 was my first game with NRS, so I'm not sure how they handled Jason. But MK11 we animated everyone's faces for everything, just in case they ended up deciding to get a maskless gear or skin later on we were covered.

I highly recommend playing the klassic towers for the endings AFTER story mode is over. They are basically a big connecting story that acts as an epilogue for the main plot.

@encyclopediamk The rest fell on redoing ALL of their facial animations to keep them within that actor's likeness. So from my perspective, these were 3 new characters, not just skins. So you can imagine how happy I am that everyone is thrilled with our hard work and enjoying them. 😁
