I fired the best ranch hand I've ever had today.
His eyes teared up when I told him why.
I set him up with his dream job.
Ranch foreman at my best friend's ranch.
The job comes with a 2 story 4-bedroom ranch house, 2 acres to use as he wishes & a barn for his horses.
He earned it
Sometimes ya pull off a miracle.
Last night I found a cow in full bloat, like the picture below. Thought she was dead. She was still breathing. I had a piece of 5/16 maple drip line in the truck, so I drove my knife into her, inserted the tube, vented the gas. today she is fine👍
Sometimes ya get an unexpected surprise. My oldest son that lives out of state gave me a call, as we were chatting he asked if I wanted to get something to eat, he flew in, had Uber drop him at the front gate & was walking down our road.
Merry Christmas
I'll be 65 on Monday.
Damn time has flown by.
It'll be just another day that I thank God for letting me be a cattle rancher.
Another day I thank God he hasn't let the cattle completely kill me.
Lord knows they have tried.
👍🇺🇸🤠
I posted a story on how I helped my ranch hand realize a dream of his and I am blown away by the illiteracy & vile hateful responses from the left.
So sad of a life that they must live to be so hateful.
Original trading post & stage stop a days ride south of Bend, oldest building in northern Klamath co. They were going to burn it down so I bought it & moved it.
Gunna be a lot of work.
I have a dream...
👍🇺🇸🤠
Being a fellow Cattleman I want the world to know Clay

But sometimes no matter how hard we try & how much heart we put into our Cattle God has other plans & we have to live with the unexpected outcomes.
Proud of you Clay!

Cleaning out the coop I found a cold dead chick, surprised me cuz no clutches are being hatched out. Put it in my shirt pocket & finished up the chore. Forgot about it, about 20 minutes later ...chirp, chirp, hey I'm alive!
We had a perfect calving season until today.
I'm posting this for all those that are clueless to the down side of ranch life.
Animal husbandry is our passion.
We love our livestock & take it hard on the heart when an unexpected loss like this happens.
@NaturalSci
Ya have to learn 'MacGyver' vet skills when Cattle Ranching. Our world depends on taking the best care possible of our 4-legged friends. It always weighs heavy om me when I can't save them.

@duckylake
@GeorgePapa19
I agree.
I'm a cattle rancher, we cattlemen monitor our cattle at all times, they are our livelihood. There is no way in hell that many cattle would die in that timeframe. Cattle around the world run in those temperatures without issues on a normal basis
Hello Oregon.
It may not seem like much and it wasn't by much but, we destroyed the Democrat super majority last election.
That is a pretty big fucking deal and we can do it again.
Keep moving the needle and inch by inch we can, and will take back our state.
Are you with me?
I'm a cattleman, I work 24/7...
That is what this lifestyle demands.
I have no complaints because this 👇 at the end of the day is my reward.
Thank you God
In the 1920s the Armstead Snow Motor was developed. This was used to convert a Fordson tractor into a screw-propelled vehicle with a single pair of cylinders.
This is a stunning working specimen.
For those of you who followed my post about my best friends horse accident while he and I were working cattle 2 week's ago today, Brent's brain injury was too severe and he has since passed away. I'm completely gutted by this. He was my best Broncos watching buddy for the last 15
My wife is native Hawaiian from Maui, we lost family because of that idiot.
Our family in upcountry had issues with water a week before the fire because officials drained the water reservoirs without explanations.
There is more to the picture than they will say.
REPORT: M. Kaleo Manuel, who was responsible for water management during the Maui fires, waited five hours to release water to residents who were burned alive.
During a debate last year, Manuel said water usage should be based on 'equity.'
Wokeism literally costs lives.

Part of the attack on the cattle industry has been taking meds we need out of the feed stores & making them 'get it from the vet only' which makes it hard to perform emergency care on our cattle when we are typically rural, the vet is hours away & closed on the weekends.
Merry Christmas from our farm to you and your family.
It truly is an honor to interact with such great people. May the sunrise Christmas morning bring you pleasant surprises.
This ruling has just set a precedent that will make all investors vulnerable in New York.
A nail in the coffin for commerce in New York because no sane investor will ever do business there in the future.
WITCH HUNT.
Corrupt Judge Engoron has ordered a total fine in the Trump New York Fraud case to be $364M and a 3-year ban on real estate in New York.
Trump’s support will go higher. Don’t do biz in a blue state.
Balancer bulls.
I know I'm supposed to sell this young bull, but I'm getting kind of fond of him. The best part about him is he is super calm, friendly and gentle.
Dave, my brother and partner in crime on the ranch got smacked by a trailer that had a Snow Cat on it.
It broke away from it's tow vehicle and hit Dave's truck head on.
Dave's beat to shit but will be ok.
Thanks God for watching out for him.
The geriatric ward, aka retirement field.
I'm a bad cattle Rancher in the sense that I let the old ladies live out their lives and die on the ranch. Most would send them to auction while they still have value.
@grace2abide
A number of things can cause it.
Cows create a lot of gas in their rumen, bloat occurs when this loss of gas is prevented. A simple change in feed can cause excessive fermentation/gas that they can't burp out fast enough, literally the back pressure can stop their ability to burp
@DanielMeier_
I've had more people not read what I wrote "I found a cow in full bloat, like the picture below"
I wasn't going to be taking pictures in an emergency situation, in the middle of the muddy rainy night when I had work to do.
posted that picture to inform people what she looked like
I normally don't post the graphic cow stuff, but there are so many out there that just don't get it unless they see it.
That and I'm tired of those clueless nimrods that attack us ranchers claiming that we are heartless.
We had a perfect calving season until today.

This morning I took the dogs for a walk.
When we got to the pond, I saw that my son had left his fishing pole last weekend.
It was baited up & ready to go.
Figured I'd take a cast, 3 cranks & I caught the biggest bass I ever caught in that pond.
Special happens when not expected.
Both of the calves are hers, she had a very rare double pregnancy. They were born almost a month apart.
Blew my mind when she dropped the second calf.
Vet said it's very rare but they can drop an egg in each uterine horn at different times.
WTF
@elonmusk
you fricking lock a Cattleman's account for tweeting about saving a cow by venting its guts & how it's done.
I've seen incompetent stupid, but this takes the cake!

Here is 88’ and her new adopted daughter-Nilla 24c
She had been an orphan calf we kept at our place.
We lost the 88’ calf.
We worked for three hours to save her but she was just too big.
88’ gave such an honest effort for her calf
I have some thank yous to write -
