I finally tracked down the full BEST #CALEG LETTER EVER... a 1960 letter from Assemblyman Don Allen to Senator Randy Collier. I had read it years ago and was blown away. It's about legislator pay and is amazing writing from the first paragraph all the way to the PS note.

After #MLK was assassinated, Speaker Unruh appointed a three-Assemblymember delegation to attend the funeral. At the airport, the rental car company would only release the car (rented by the State of CA) to Bill Bagley because the other two (Willie Brown & Leon Ralph) were Black.

A reminder: The D.O. Mills family has always maintained that if it's not on display in the Rotunda, they want it back. Letter from the 1980s when Isabella got moved for the big restoration and D.O. Mills family tried to get her back.

Let's have a quick little discussion about the #CALeg State Senate after the next general election in 2022. For the 2023-24 session, the state will be represented by half a Senate elected under new (2021) districts and half representing the old (2011) districts.

On the @RideSacRT , @sacsheriff Deputy M. Basden is being awesome. A guy got on playing rap music on his phone, Basden correctly guessed the artist, explained the "no music on the train" rule and is now selling the guy on the merits of Johnny Cash. I am in awe.

As Speaker, McCarthy holds the highest federal rank of any former #CALeg member. Of the other Californians to hold high federal office (Presidents Hoover, Nixon and Reagan, VPs Nixon and Harris, Speaker Pelosi, and Chief Justice Warren) none were alumni of the #CALeg .
