Somehow, the failures of the Minsk Accords and the Normandy Process have not registered with him. He is a leader who either lacks any capacity for introspection or is too stubborn to admit failure and let go off past practices that produced it in the first place.

It is quite astonishing, and more than embarrassing, that North Korea is able to outcompete the combined weight of the United States, the EU, Canada, and the United Kingdom with respect to ammunition production. And yet I doubt it will serve as the wake up call we all need.

Russia launched a missile strike on the Nika-Tera private port in Mykolaiv, Ukraine. Oligarch Dmytro Firtash owns it. There is a grain terminal on the territory. Russia continues to exacerbate the food crisis.

Such an awful piece on Ukraine and Biden. For starters, if Ukraine had "kompromat" on Biden, as Abrahms alleges with reference to a debunked conspiracy theory, you'd think it would have gotten ATACMS by now and not suffer so much hesitation on the part of his administration.

There seems to be a misunderstanding in Germany that Polish exasperation over that country's policies on Russia, Ukraine, arms transfers, and arms deals is driven by PiS. As much as Poland is divided, there is broad consensus that Berlin drags its feet too much on those issues.

I say all this without discussing the definitional issues involved with the notion of humiliation. Frankly, Russia has already deeply humiliated itself. Besides, any final agreement will most likely reflect the reality on the ground in Ukraine and Russia, so the concern is moot.

Russia justifies its military buildup on Ukraine's border by saying that it has a sovereign right to move kit around on its territory. That same sovereign right does not extend to others, though. Especially not to its neighbors.

1. It is Russia's war against Ukraine, not "the Ukraine crisis". 2. This war is conventional. 3. Some argue that had Ukraine kept Soviet nuclear weapons, none of this would have happened. 4. Russian nuclear weapons deter a major NATO intervention on the side of Ukraine.

These failures don't bode well for France's diplomatic position within Europe itself. At least it has given heavy weapons to Ukraine unlike another participant in the Normandy Process. Still, many European capitals will be frustrated with and even perplexed by Paris.

The anti-UA rhetoric from the Kremlin, the mass civilian victimization, the targeting of UA political and cultural institutions, and, now, the ethnic cleansing settle, in my view, the debate as to whether there is an attempted genocide taking place in Ukraine. It is happening.
