VRatio (blue) is something I monitor to identify extreme reversal points on the VIX (teal). <1 ratio is typically a risk-on signal for me, while >1.15-1.2 is risk-off. We're currently at 1.22, which is why I believe VIX is attractive here to the upside (for mean reversion)

Let's not forget that shorting IS, by default, the pain trade. The alpha for the last 10+ years IS to buy the dip. As I am net short going into CPI, i'm obvs uncomfortable w the current HF positioning, and skew data (as of end-Mar) is not supportive for bears as well.
