@albertcork2020 @TadhgHickey Trust me, these people are ridiculously ignorant over Churchill. To them he single-handedly saved the world from the baddies. The sheer level of ignorance is something else. Blew my mind when I first moved over to England.

When your police do more to protect the statue of a racist than the victims of racism today, you know you've got a problem of 'historical amnesia'.

@ACEMcCormack @albertcork2020 @TadhgHickey I moved the opposite direction, and yes I was more ignorant than I realised. Thing is, unless you are a semi- serious history buff (I wasn't, particularly), there is a total absence of anything critical of the UK's past when you are raised there.

@SamGuideDogTra1 @albertcork2020 @TadhgHickey You're correct about the lack of critical analysis in Britain and it's just storing up and perpetuating the exceptionalism that is behind Brexit and now fanning the racism that has always been present but is now widely being spoken. No idea how they'll be able to address or undo.

@albertcork2020 @TadhgHickey Yep. Not to mention his role in Boer War, famine/genocide in Begal etc. Not a clue. Then they deny it. Pure ignorance.

@ACEMcCormack @albertcork2020 @TadhgHickey Read this excellent book : clearly shows how many Germans pleaded with the UK govt to stop Hitler from his Lebensraum policies, his Nuremberg Race Laws and his persecution of Jews. And the British 'we won the war' Govt refused to listen and interfere. #churchill
