The story goes that the man approached Morgan with an envelope he claimed contained the "guaranteed formula for success."
Morgan agreed that he would read it first and, if it was true, pay the man.
He opened the envelope, read the contents, nodded, and got out his checkbook.
You see, life IS simple. We're the ones who overcomplicate it.
Success has a clear path. We're the ones who mystify it.
If you want to succeed at anything, all you have to do is find the simple, defined path to where you want to go.
And follow it.
The first part - whether you want to admit it or not - is easy.
Take anything you want to accomplish and I'd wager that you already know what's required to get there.
For example, let's look at a conversation I had with a friend who wanted to lose weight.
"I don't know what to do."
"What would you guess you should do?"
Without thinking, he listed off exactly what needed to be done.
The path was immediately de-mystified.
If you're saying you don't know what to do to accomplish your goals, you're probably just making excuses.
It's only when we begin to take action that we step into the world of Reality.
The world of Reality is a cold, cruel world where action is all that matters.
It's all about TODAY. You either push yourself forward or drive yourself back.
Neutral doesn't exist in Reality.
The distinguishing characteristic of those who consistently succeed is their willingness to face Reality.
They get up each day and do it...whatever the "it" is that lines the path toward their ultimate goal.
What was true for JP Morgan is true for you and for me.
The path is clearly laid out in front of you. Stop making excuses.
Determine what needs to be done. And do it. Every single day.
That's the "guaranteed formula for success."
And it's all yours for free.
