A million things give significant advantages in DBD. Brighter, larger & high hz monitor. Good gpu/ cpu (less latency & 120 fps), Ping, internet speed, headset & audio output quality, good M&K= lower input latency etc. Yet 99% of discussion around advantages involves Reshade. Why?
@That1GuyD_
I dont think its one specific creator, among many non-reshade users there is this feeling that they have more integrity or are playing the "real" DBD, which I think is ridiculous
@v1rtualblight
Because reshade is the most visible, and is the type of thing most competitive games would ban in a heartbeat. You can balance around people having high fps, you can't balance around people being able to easily see things the game didn't intend for them to.
@FauxKingJoe
Its a trade-off, Reshade makes the game look better & increases accessibility, but reduces the "competitive integrity". Whether or not game devs should ban it should depend on how much they value either trade-off. For CS banning it makes sense, for DBD I dont think so
@v1rtualblight
Because being able to make blood, scratch marks and red stains have the vibrance of the fucking sun gives a far greater advantage than any of these.
@LtBoosted69
Idk bro, I dont believe the game is playabale on a shitty small dark monitor. If i had that, I would much rather get a large & bright monitor than get reshade
@v1rtualblight
I think this happens due to reshades being a pc exclusive sort of thing you can do and not having the same availability or accessibility on consoles.
At least that's my take from it, I don't use them but have seen lots of discussion about them
@ColmitecP
Thats fair, but at the same time removing cool features like reshade because console doesnt have access to them are the same in my mind like removing oni 180 flicks. Just cause someone is at a disadvantage doesnt mean it should be the same for everyone else, just gonna be worse
@v1rtualblight
I feel like you'd perform significantly better than 120fps with 60fps + reshade. Although that isn't accounting for certain techs I think might be fps dependent. I think the other thing is that the game feels balanced around certain areas being a specific level of brightness.
@v1rtualblight
Me with my wooting keyboard, good headset and 240hz monitor but whoo hoo i can see a claudette crouching in a bush or the red stain is brighter woooo whoop dee dooooooo
@v1rtualblight
I’m seriously wondering how reshade could benefit my looping skills more than a brand new pc.
Reshade wont stop my fps from dropping to 30 mid chase, nor will it improve my ping, when having low ping is pretty much legal cheats
@v1rtualblight
Because some people don't like to lose, and when they do they need an excuse, and because they themselves have those other things that give advantages but not reshade, they cannot accept it might be a skill issue and blame the one advantage they don't posess
