If you need more evidence that Trump is bungling the Coronavirus response, here’s some. After 9/11 Bush had 85%+ approval. Americans (& people generally) rally around their leaders in times of crisis. Trump’s numbers haven’t moved beyond his usual low-to-mid 40s. Expect a drop.

I don’t entirely agree. Japan and China, I would argue, have evolved significantly as they interact with the West. They retain their historical culture but it evolves and adapts to the economic, cultural, and military forces with which they interact.
