"David Cameron’s shadow is so long and so dark. His loss of the Brexit referendum will dominate his place in history – but the problems he has bequeathed to his successors go well beyond that." - @xtophercook

@tortoise @xtophercook This is excellent but as I was going through it, for Cameron, it is easy to substitute any number of lightweight politicians in all parties who arrived via the same route. No experience but a good CV via public school and Oxbridge.

@tortoise @xtophercook It is also notable that in such a long autobiography he devotes only a few lines to his seven years as Director of Corporate Affairs at Carlton Communications

@tortoise @LydiaHislop @xtophercook An interesting piece but in 2013 and 2014 all the mainstream economics correspondents on terrestrial channels parroted the continuing need for austerity and failed to subject it to any critical analysis

@tortoise @xtophercook “The dignity of office and the size of his majority will imbue banality with solidity.” Perfect description of the Eton effect on our public life. How much of a disaster are we going to have to endure to break from its grip, now we’ve obviously reached the nadir with #Johnson .
