You're right, people need to stop acting like background characters to everything they see, and actually try to do something useful instead of just taking out their phones trying get a video.

“Excuse me officer, but we can all see that this is a disabled guy. He’s not bothering anyone. Is there anything I can do to help?” At least give it a try. I know officers see a lot and are jaded sometimes. But I know some who are really good people.

Exactly. There’s nothing wrong with politely telling an officer that what he’s doing is wrong & that he should rethink his actions before he gets himself into trouble. Cops also need to be more open to constructive criticism & stop having fragile egos
