(1) The people using ASD and ADHD to describe themselves aren't saying they are "mentally ill," they are identifying with a construct that describes and helps them understand their experience.

(2) Some people just ARE more sensitive to the stresses of the current moment. They are the canaries in the coal mine. Not having a totally different experience, just hitting their limit harder and faster.

(3) And of course, the pressures of capitalism cause mental illness like depression and anxiety. These are real conditions, and the people who suffer from them are capable of understanding their cause.
