There is no answer to what the universe is and where people come from? We essentially do not understand time, and we measure and interpret it improvised and arbitrary. It is best to start from scratch and the fact that the universe has always been the same!
@thePiggsBoson
Somewhat overstated but it is true that the road to understanding our physical world is made of ups and downs, even though the global trend is a significant progress.
@thePiggsBoson
That's a rather pessimistic view. Quantum mech. is a very successful theory (of small stuff). Ditto General Relativity, which works well for big stuff, fast stuff and heavy stuff. And we know quite a bit about (space)-time. Not bad for the first 500 years of physics!
@thePiggsBoson
Quantum Mechanics & Einstein's relativity are the underlying guidance for any other theory.
In all fields, now and in the future.
So basically we have a solid base where to build.
And both are a "one-time world-changing discovery"
