I’m 6’5” and my knees typically hit the seat in front of me in economy plus when it’s in the upright position. I think I deserve some minimum level of comfort that doesn’t require spending double on a ticket.

I’m 50 and my back hurts and it’s hard to sit upright for hours. I think I deserve some minimum level of comfort by putting my seat back the few inches it will go. See how that works?

I don’t see how that works, since back pain can be remedied by plenty of other methods than reclining a seat. I can’t shorten the length of my femurs and reclining my own seat does nothing to add leg room.

If your back pain is muscular in origin, best way to remedy without pain meds is to strengthen your core muscles. It takes time and riding a bike is probably the easiest way to do this. I’ve had this sort of back pain before and it surfaced when I stopped riding regularly.
