Thank god for

saying things we were thinking but no one else is saying. Tabloids & public lapped up Bashir interview they now deplore. Their hatred of BBC & infantilization of Diana, who wanted media attention but was increasingly hounded

And when looking at historical injustice we should be particularly concerned about those institutions that are still doing what they were guilty of before.

Read the report too if you’ve time Barry. Underlying implication seem to be that as Bashir is lying ‘therefore’ Spencer is presenting the truth, which he may well be, but not all of Spencer’s account appears corroborated...

Interesting. I’ll have a read. It’s certainly hard to believe the supposed causal story that runs from Bashir to the sad ending, or the counterfactual history we’re meant to believe in had the BBC stopped Bashir

I would say its the biter bit. The BBC has long looked down its nose at the tabloids. It is therefore no surprise it is the centre of their ire when it shows its feet of clay.

Excellent piece. I find it nauseating that this demonisation of the BBC plays into the hands of the de-funders, while conveniently ignoring the fact that William's adulterous father was surely more responsible for "ruining" Diana's life than any TV interview.
