Who was Jean Jacques Rousseau? A fascinating collection of his letters sheds light into the French philosopher and writer's life, and can be read on 'Electronic Enlightenment'. EE is an online compendium of historical correspondence. #LettersAndLives

@smithbarryc HE WAS FUCKING SWISS. I think Rousseau, with admirable foresight, possibly put that in his grave stone. I also think the influence of his thinking (for good or ill) might be underrated. But that’s probably because I’m holding my third negroni but no phd.

@smithbarryc He sure was! Wasn’t Voltaire technically Swiss too, though his birthplace is now in France, I think? Well anyway, Django was definitely Belgian.
