I’m coming out of a 2 year fog of fear and uncertainty, and would like to share some things I did while processing. Honestly, I think I will always be processing since health is a moving target, but I feel good right now, and that’s all that matters: (2/7)

It’s #WorldCancerDay and I was reflecting on my headspace since I was diagnosed with an incurable cancer 2 years ago. I’m in a better place now, largely due to my tumors (predictably) growing slowly. So much that the frequency of my checkups and scans decreased. (1/7)

1. Be in tune with your body and advocate for yourself. Have regular physicals. Bring up weird lumps or anything out of the ordinary. My cancer was found because I brought up a lump with my doctor, and she scheduled an ultrasound for me. (3/7)

2. Prioritize your happiness. I used to do everything else I was *supposed* to do and then finally do the things I wanted to do. Flip flop that, and pay yourself 1st. The chores, etc. will always be there. Coordinate with partners to carve out that time for yourself. (4/7)

3. It’s not about the quantity of moments, but the quality of them. Look at your current situation and focus on leaning towards happiness/fulfillment. And quality doesn’t equal productivity. If your current mind/body needs a break, then take that nap, play games, etc! (5/7)

4. Be selective with your time. Your time is your gift to give: be choosy who you give it to. (6/7)

5. Surround yourself with those who love and support you. I wouldn’t be where I am today mentally without all my family and friends’ support. And let them know how much you appreciate them! (7/7)
