As only five players turned up, they got each of them to have a go at the rap. Tony Wilson described Peter Beardsley's version as "the most indecipherable piece of music ever recorded".

Peter Beardsley was originally earmarked to do the John Barnes rap section....Barnes had to step in after Beardsley was bitten by a squirrel on the day of the recording. The rest is history...
