It's hard to believe that anyone at the @SFGiants thought this would go over well. Any sort of truly "mutual understanding" would probably include some kind of farewell season to give Renel the plaudits she absolutely deserves for the work she's done, and the icon she is.

Instead, this sudden firing feels like the kind of unplanned, knee-jerk reaction I'd expect from a Dave Kaval led team, not Larry Baer (whose name, notably, I do not see being mentioned today, nor am I seeing any statement from him, which I find curious).

The Chronicle's @annkillion lays the blame at the feet of the Johnson-family ownership, and I tend not to be a believer in making jumps of logic like that...but it's hard to see any other connection to this other than someone in ownership going to the extreme.

This is absolute insanity from this Giants team. The fans love Renel, and it shows as the Giants are reeling from a self-inflicted black eye they can not blame on anyone else.
