TODAY WE CHOOSE OUR INDUSTRY! Since we’re doing this in real time, at the end of this thread you can vote on what industry I get into and I’ll do whatever you choose.

Ok, just 30 seconds for my backstory. 30 seconds I promise, super quick!!! So I used to be an accountant working in the DC area. Actual picture of my old office building, if you recognize it, hit me in the dms.

I hated my job and started googling and trying new projects while still at my job. I tried dating sites, advertising networks, consulting side projects, you name it. Nothing worked. My friends looking at me every time I had a new business idea...😂

Then I came across this picture online. This guy Shoemoney was running adsense on his blogs and that’s what drew me in.

So I started following his blog, and Shoemoney ended up getting into local services and got me down a crazy path that ended up changing my life.

So I made this list of things that were important to me in my next project...

Local services fit the bill so inspired by Shoemoney I thought I would give it a shot and here's how things played out...

In 9 months after trying and tweaking the model, I got up to $40k a month while at my job and finally decided to quit (After hanging on scared for a couple extra months 😂) . This is when I quit my job. Peep the date. That was my last job ever!

I shared my story and helped a bunch of other people quit their jobs as well... (Not in the b.s social media story way, like for real, for real)

And now we're going to do it again....

Ok Rohan, that’s cute, you’re gonna get to Day 1 or nah? Sorry just had to get the backstory out of the way.

Okay bet let’s get to Day 1. Choosing an Industry. Okay, first and probably the most important step is to figure out what to sell.

So this step requires removing all emotion. We’re here to put up numbers. So we can't worry about passion, or if it fulfills some childhood dream, or get ourselves caught up with stroking our egos or anything attached to fuzzy feelings...

So instead of some sexy "business idea", we're going to build a <What are people already spending a shit ton of money on> business. Might be boring and unsexy, but that’s where we go. Practical, real world things that people buy. A lot!

Alright so you got a couple of good prospects but cant’ decide what to go after, I came up with this random point system. This bad boy works for me. Closest to 100 wins.

So for industry I’m going to narrow it down to local services like Shoemoney did. Why? Because it just freaking works. It fits all of our criteria. Plus I can get started from my laptop, never see anyone face to face, and apply e-commerce techniques and win!

As long as what you come up with matches our resources we’re on our way. We’re not going to spend two years begging people to invest in our dream when there’s a gazillion companies we can start for less than $1,000. And that’s what we’re going to do.

And remember, we’ve already removed the “is it a good idea” risk out of the equation as well. So all we are left with is execution. Execution. Execution. Execution. Ohh boy this is where the magic begins...
