DPW currently has an advertisement for CDL drivers. $14.00/hour, no benefits. You can find jobs in the area with benefits and starting in the low $20s/hour. No wonder they don't have people.

I am struggling with this. As a preservationist, I want to see historic buildings saved, but as a city resident I want to see growth and improvement. An all or nothing approach to Historic Preservation may get us what we have seen far too much of lately. Nothing.

One of the "Superblock" buildings on West Fayette St. that CHAP today said have historic and cultural significance and should not be torn down. The developers will have another chance to come back and argue economic hardship at a second hearing.

@Burgersub Close Falls Rd from the 28th st bridge to the Howard st bridge and make it a park, with the Streetcar Museum, a restored roundhouse converted to gallery/event/dining space, views of the Jones Falls, bike and walking paths, nice landscaping, pleasant lighting, evening concerts..🤷‍♂️

Interesting factoid: the large windows are built “backwards.” The horizontal curved muntins run fully from side to side while the verticals are short pieces in between. The opposite of traditional sash joinery. This adds strength, built like the ribs in the hull of a ship.

@mjpost 1.The Jones Falls was and is an open sewer. It has not been bucolic for a very long time. It was nasty and often flooded. Uncovering it, which I favor, would necessitate solving that systemic, complicated and expensive problem.
