China only had consuming tax cut on buyers, if that can be considered as subsidy.
What makes the manufacturers strong is the big domestic market and the fierce competition.

And let me guess. We will have a "surprise" twist: European car exports to China will crash. This will likely happen even without counter tariffs, simply because the West has lost price competitiveness.

China isn't going to sit there and do nothing. The EU car manufacturers' biggest market is still China.

The admission by the EU that their car industry will be destroyed like they are nothing by Chinese EVs. They will have to protect at least the home turf.
Decades of engineering advance gone by their own suicidal ICE regulations and banning after 2035.

Where are environmentalists screaming in the streets? The EU had promised tax breaks for green technology to save the planet.
But they hadn't expected Chinese EV companies to innovate & compete. Now everyone has forgotten about saving the planet.
