Beijing says it now has capacity to build Taiwan high-speed rail link from Chinese mainland
Taipei has dismissed Beijing’s latest blueprint for boosting connectivity between the island and nearby province of Fujian as ‘wishful thinking’
But senior official from state planner…

Hard to paint this initiative as "belligerent" or "warmongering" as the mainstream media like to portray china with respect to cross strait relationship.
@pstAsiatech
They even created an official propaganda song about it. I hear that if you sing it 3 times in a row it will make you forget about life under an authoritarian regime.
@pstAsiatech
Nobody I know in Taiwan has the remote interest of traveling to Fujian, a third tier province many of our ancestors ran from centuries ago because they saw zero future in China. Given their construction “quality”, pretty sure it’s going to collapse in middle of the strait
@pstAsiatech
PLS hope this comes true! For easier travel between xiamen and taipei. A lot of people have shared history and family ties so it would help development
@pstAsiatech
Why on earth would anyone want to build a railway to a country that threatens to invade you? It doesn't make any sense. In particular when the invader has shown in advance the oppressive rule that follows a takeover.

Kinmen is OK,But it's not possible on Taiwan's own island. There is a portion of the high seas in the middle of the Taiwan Strait. According to international maritime law, that is not allowed.
