We intercepted over 8000 eggs that were going to be thrown away.
The expiration date wasn't until November 24th... The mind boggles how capitalism can be so fantastically wasteful.
Anyway, there's going to be a lot of full bellies. Yay anarchism!
For those of you who are surprised by the amount that was thrown away, I have to stress that this is nothing.
We collect over eight pallets every week this size of everything from bananas to salads to frozen meals. All well before it's expiration date and perfectly good
Since this thread is getting a lot of attention
Please help our local Mutual Aid organization deliver tents and supplies to people suffering from homelessness.
I will link more information about this action in the tweet below
Update:
I'm sad to report that Marjorie (the lady with the medical emergency) did not make it. The cause of death is still unknown.
What we do know, is that she was kicked out of her temporary housing the night before. if she had somewhere to stay this might not have happened.
@OpaIsa5
This is nothing. We collect over 8 pallets every week like this.
it's not usually eggs specifically, sometimes it's chocolate milk, or salads, or strawberries, or a mix of all kinds of things.
Honestly I should post these pictures more often, it's fucking mind blowing.

I don’t think “capitalism” is the bogeyman or babadook you seem to think it is, but I really appreciate what you’ve done. There’s no excuse for tossing good food. Let’s make sure regulation keeps its grimy hands off of people trying to help other people. Would be a huge 1st step

But yea… capitalism…
@professordarwin
I remember at my university (presumably most) discarded food wasn’t allowed to be distributed to soup kitchens because if someone were to get sick the school would be liable …. Sigh
@ItBernsWhenIVot
No. It was "too close to expiration". To the capitalist businesses I guess that means over a month. They don't expire until the end of November.🤷🏼♀️
